They both look good to me at least from the pictures posted. I am not sure what is making you say that.
Trust me - its all good - and plays great too
Some people just speak when they shouldn't.
The body's top curve is slightly wider than the later models, giving it more of a surf board look. It is a genuine bass from the era, and even has the hand rest and bridge cover.
