Underrated/under appreciated blues artists

I saw Ruthie a few times with Larry Fulcher on bass, great stuff. There are so many great blues singers new and old, I dig Shemekia Copeland and Danielle Schnebelen among tons of others.

Dave is right up the road in the Huntsville Madison area. Him and my brother are good friends.

here’s a blast from the past. The Heartfixers featured Tinsley Ellis and Greg Taylor. They only had one release but if you can find it it’s none too shabby.

The late great Willie King. I was fortunate enough to be Willie’s first call bass player for a time before i took a job that required travel. Any time i’d get back to town there would always be a message on my machine from Willie telling me where they were playing and inviting me out. I learned more about playing on the fly and on stage communications playing with Wille than i did at any time prior to that.

While not that obscure, he’s my favorite living bluesman, who can also rock you all night long if the mood strikes. Anywho, here’s my favorite polka dot fashionista.
