Underwater Bass

This may seem like an odd question, but a bandmate and I were joking around one day, and decided it would be amazing to have an underwater jam session, which would obviously call for an underwater bass. I don't know if such a thing is even possible, because of the physics of it. It would be possible to waterproof all the electronics, I know... but would it even be possible to make a submersible stringed instrument that maintained similar acoustic properties as their above-ground counter parts?

We came up with this idea substance free, thank you very much.
And its not the build of the bass that concerns me. I could do it with something other than wood, build it naked (no controls), passive, and seal the output jack, but if it wouldn't work, I don't think I'll waste the time and money to try it. It would be awesome though.

And as to the skydiving thing, that would be cool, but you wouldn't get but a fraction of the way through a song. A typical dive lasts 30-60 seconds.

How bout an underwater bass in the air :hiding:

there was a Swedish band who did this back in the mid ninties...can't remember the name though.

They had to seal all their instuments with silicone before doing it. I don't think the amps were underwater, just the band members were underwater and people were listening above.
