A bit of background: last weekend I gave my P-bass a set up and I adjusted the pickup height to even out the volume across all four strings. And I was pleased with the result.
But today I played on my Sire M3 with MM style humbuckers and my Jazz bass. The E and G string are noticeably louder than the A and D string. But adjusting the pickup height won't help to even out the volume across the strings. Because obviously you can't adjust the pickup to match fingerboard radius or adjust it for one string without impact for the other strings.
So how do you Talkbassists cope with this issue on your soapbar/jazz pickup carrying basses?
