UNKNOWN BRAND NAME

Hello.

I have owned this 5-string bass for about 2 years now and I bought it used. The worst thing about it is that the previous owner painted over the brand name of the bass. If anyone knows what brand this bass is please notify me right away. I'm very eager to figure it out.

I'd love to help you out, but with no picture and very little information, it's impossible for me to offer you any help. All I know about the bass so far is that it's a 5 string with a logo thats been painted over.

EDIT: Hmm, sorry I still don't know. Someone one TB will be able to help you out though.

Yes that's true. I don't have much information about it though. I bought it at a Guitar Center and we don't have the receipt for it so there aren't many ways that i can figure it out.

Didn't the guys at GC tell you what bass it is?

Apparently it was a bass made my New York Bass Works (that's just what thought I heard). The website did not show any model that looked the same.

Looks a tiny bit similar to the old Ibanez roadsters I think they were called?

I'm guessing you've tried taking off the control cover to see if there is anything written in there?

The head stock looks like a lace helix a little bit, but the body definitely doesn't match.

That's actually a great idea. Unluckily it's in for repairs right now so i'll have to check that when I get it back.

You're right! maybe the neck was for a lance helix and was put on a different body?

+1. Googled "Brownsville bass" and it returned a few images of a very similar bass, just look at the knob positions, they match.
