Unknown ebay hollow body?

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I've been GASing hard for a hollow body lately, but I just don't have the cash to put up for one now, so I was looking for something cheap to hold me over. This is the cheapest I could find

4 String Electric Bass Guitar, Hollow Body Guitar, Wh | eBay

It looks nice enough for what it's priced, but the lack information leaves me weary. The guy has about 10 of them, so it's not used or anything, but there's always a risk in those nameless china made instruments. Anybody ever seen one of these?

***warning this post contains nothing but speculation***

I always come across that seller and those basses. They look like they could be made in the same factory Waterstone uses. At most I'd expect from one if those is good wood working, decent finish, horrible fretwork and hardware. Could be a good instrument after a fair amount of time and money, but like someone else said you'd never get your money back if it stinks. Things are rarely too good to be true.

That being said I think you should get it because I've been dying to hear about them!

The body is likely not hollow, just chambered. So it won't contribute to the tone a whole lot. If the bridge is floating it's possible that it could be intonated, but it looks to me like it's screwed down. The seller isn't really a seller of musical instruments, so there's no real way to know if he or she knows or cares whether it's built properly. And it just looks shoddy. That's enough for me to advise you to pass.

I'm pretty sure that money would be better spent on a used whatever. A good hollowbody is wonderful. A bad one is worse than horrible.

i bought a 5 string version of that bass a few years ago and it wasn't unplayable, but it also wasn't enjoyable. at all. especially if you want to play in tune. luckily, i was able to return it. i can't imagine i could have resold it.

like the others have said, there are alot of better options for a bit more. i love hollow body basses and haven't owned my fair share. some of the cheap hofner type basses are actually quite good.

hope this helps.
