Besides polio, Neil Young also suffers from epilepsy, and occasionally has had seizures while performing. As mentioned earlier, he was briefly in a band with Rick James called the Mynah Birds.

Jack Bruce was a member of Manfred Mann for a short time in 1965 - 1966 playing bass. He was on this instrumental EP they did doing jazzy instrumental covers of rock songs. He also played on their hit song "Pretty Flamingo".
After their first LP, both Randall Bramblett and Davis Causey joined. The band's only hit was a remake of Bramblett's "Living In A Dream".

There really is a song written by Pete Townshend called "Teenage Wasteland," though the Who song people often think goes by that title is actually "Baba O'Reily."
The Who never recorded "Teenage Wasteland," but Townshend made an excellent demo. There are obvious similarities between Wasteland and Baba, but it is a different song.

Before Peter Cetera joined The Big Thing, who became Chicago Transit Authority and then Chicago, he was in Kal David and the Exceptions, which shortened their name to The Exceptions and then The Exception. They released several singles and an EP, Rock 'N' Roll Mass in the Chicago area. Cetera left when the other members expressed a desire to perform more psychedelic material. That sure was a great move on his part.
Before Kenny Loggins had a massive hit with the song "Danger Zone" from the Top Gun movie soundtrack, it was offered to several other acts who all turned it down for various reasons.
Toto were originally intended to perform the track "Danger Zone" but legal conflicts between the film's producers and the band's lawyers prevented this.
Bryan Adams was approached to perform "Danger Zone"; but, he refused any involvement, feeling that the film glorified war and he did not want any of his work linked to it.
REO Speedwagon were also approached to perform "Danger Zone," but the group declined due to not being allowed to contribute any of their own compositions to the soundtrack.
Corey Hart was also approached to perform "Danger Zone," but he declined, preferring to write and perform his own compositions.
Eventually, the film producers agreed that "Danger Zone" would be recorded and performed by Kenny Loggins.

In between all the stuff Cher has done over the years, she was actually in a rock band called Black Rose that released one album in 1980. This band featured Cher and her then boyfriend guitarist/vocalist Les Dudek. The other band members were Gary Ferguson, Michael Finnigan, Warren Ham (Bloodrock, A.D., Kansas, Toto, Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, & More), Rocket Ritchotte and Trey Thompson. Some studio musicians who played on the album included Toto members David Paich and Steve Porcaro.
Before becoming the "Fifth Beatle" and touring and recording with a who's who list of acts from the 60s until his death and his solo career, Billy Preston released a few albums as a teenager and also backed up vocal group The Olympics for live performances. He even appeared with them live on TV playing on their cover of the Lemme B. Good song "Good Lovin'". The Olympics rendition of the song inspired The Young Rascals cover which became a #1 U.S. hit. Later on, his song "You Are So Beautiful", that he co-wrote with Bruce Fisher, was written about Billy's mother and was recorded for Preston's 1974 album The Kids & Me. It was covered by Joe Cocker for a big hit.

Link Wray punched a hole into the speaker of his amplifier, resulting in the fuzz sound on his signature song "Rumble".
The group America had a penchant for naming many (not all) of their album titles starting with the letter "H" for some reason. Some bootleg America albums even start with the letter "H".

My first two solo albums were titled Skeptical and Sorry . I'm way overdue to record & release a third, but I haven't been able to come up with a pithy one-word title beginning in "S" yet!
Yeah the H thing is kinda cool, but very creepy for some reason. Never noticed that until you mentioned it.
The Three Dog Night hit song One was written by Harry Nilsson when he called someone and got a busy signal. He stayed on the line listening to the "beep, beep, beep, beep..." tone, writing the song. The busy signal became the opening notes of the song.
According to composer Robert Lamm, the Chicago song "25 or 6 to 4" is about trying to write a song in the middle of the night. The song's title is the time at which the song is set: 25 or 26 minutes before 4 AM.

I remember finding out about that when I was learning the lyrics to cover it years back. IIRC, it was at that time in the morning and he'd been trying to come up with lyrics all night but had nothing. I wonder if it true or myth. Great tune and fun to play IMO. Very proto punk in the feel and power chord rhythm, albeit a slower tempo.
A follow up bit of trivia: Green Day's song Brain Stew from the Insomniac album follows the same chord progression and a similar theme.
