Dude, you were super cool with that, you posted in advance that you were about to buy it so I and whomever else was following it could jump on it too. That was one sweet bass, I was pretty broke back then so it lasted about a month before I Ebayed it and made a couple hundred.

Well, it's been over a week. And the price has come down $65, so now it's 50% off list.

Just bought one @ $825.45. Used my Discover card, so I got free one-day shipping (promo code DSCVRFSP). Now there's five left, at the same price.

Sorry if this influences the price unfavorably. But this bass should be a big step up in quality for me at a price I can afford. You guys are just better poker players than me, I guess.

Took me a minute to realize that the Skyline and non-Skyline models are different. And the four string and five string, besides the strings. (The five string has graphite reinforcement in the neck, for one thing.) There's a good comparison chart at the Lakland link above.

Info about the AJ

Controls include cut/boost bass, mid, and treble, a panning-style pickup blend, and master volume (with pull-out switching to bypass EQ)

A point of note...

I have one of these...a grey (black) one I got on ebay...anyway, the USA version has the push-pull active-passive switch on the volume knob, the import does not.

It is a killer bass!

According to the website, this one has the push\pull but here is lakland's site to square that away

EDIT: I'm still confused when I look at the preamp as to if it really is a push pull active to passive

The website is wrong. There is no push pull on the Skyline AJs. It has the same pre as the 01s, which is the Korean Bartolini MK-1. But you can easily upgrade it to a better preamp.

Well ... it's here, and I'm not impressed. This makes it clear that at least some of the hot deals are customer returns. The case candy came in a regular #10 envelope with a big piece of tape across the back, the manual was missing, the setup was awful and it was obvious that someone severely lacking in clue had tinkered with it:

Does anyone really think it came that way from the factory?

I called Amazon and they're sending a guaranteed new, un-******-with replacement and UPS will be coming to my door to collect this one.

If the next one is no good I'm getting a refund, else it'll either be kept or turning up in the TB classifieds at cost.
