I have a GK MB210 combo and I'm looking to upgrade to a better sounding rig. The MB210 just doesn't seem to have enough power and smooth low end punch so I'm thinking I should go with a separate lightweight head and lightweight cabinet. I play mostly blues and classic rock. I have a Fender Jazz and a Danelectro Longhorn basses. I've been considering the Ampeg PF500, GK MB500, Markbass LM III and Aguilar TH 350 heads because I want to keep the head price around $350 to $500 used. I'm really not sure about which cabinet but I want lightweight so one with Neo speaker(s). I know I need to try these out for myself but I would like to get opinions here first. Thanks!

Upgrade from a GK MB210 combo

GK is pretty much famous for their Neo cabs. If you like the way your MB sounds just get a bigger GK rig.
After checking out various GK MB's I found them wanting as well
Ended up with a PF800 and 115HE for fairly light weight but powerful combo that is great for blues and classic rock at reasonable volumes
Recently added another 115HE to keep up with 2 very loud guitars in a 90's rock band - it sounds so good I am have started considering bringing both of them out all the time
I couldn't be happier with this setup

I've got a great solution for you, got a MBP 410 powered cab at 500 watts with neodimium speakers and ways 55 lbs.
I didn't love my Mb210 either until I added the neo 1x12 cab underneath. Big difference. Bass sounds deeper and clearer. Waaaay better. I've used it on a bunch of gigs now in all types of venues and I have never felt like it was lacking for power. Super consistent and easy on the back to carry too.
I really don't want to have to move 2 cabs. Any opinions of the Ampeg PF500, GK MB500, Markbass LM III and Aguilar TH 350 heads?
Or upgrade to the G-K MB212-II.
You shouldn't need to with a G-K MB212-II (unless you also wanted to add the 212MBP) Anyway, if you're going to go with an amp/cab rig, you really should start with a louder cab, and then look for the amp head. The point is - you can only be as loud (and tone) as you speaker cab can provide.
My opinion and experience dealing with band and not a live setting says yes.
I used the mb210 and it didnt cut in band setting.
The mb212 was all that and more.
To this day i consider that amp to be the best combo amp i ever played through.

GK MB200 amp with a GK NEO 212 cab. Just about the same price.
Practically the same set up of the GK MB212 combo.
The difference is the amp can run other cabs, headphones, record without cab, play live with line out for PA, can bring along as a backup.

But the MB212 has 500 watts and the MB200 head is only 200 watts? And the MB212 does have a line out for the PA.

My point was not needing the speakers all the time for certain situations.
