Upgrading my amp, looking for some informed answers.

I'm currently looking to upgrade from my Fender Rumble 150 because the guitarists in the band I am currently playing in now have some pretty darn big half stacks. One of them is playing through a Marshall, the other a Mesa Boogie.

I love the Acoustic Brand, but I want something a little bit different than having the head and cab be Acoustic. I was thinking that getting an Orange cab would be interesting but I have no idea if thats even a good idea.

The two I am thinking of pairing up are an
Acoustic B300H 300W
and
Orange OBC210

Does anyone have experience putting an Acoustic head on Orange Cabs or am I doing something I shouldn't be doing or am I simply crazy for even thinking of trying this.

any insight would be fantastic and magical

I think you're going to get a few replies telling you that your guitarists are too loud, but if you play heavy loud music, your going to need an amp with some guts to keep up.

I don't see any problem pairing that amp/cab (except that a 210 may not give you the volume you want - you might want to spring for a 410). I'm not familiar with that particular amp and cab, but it might sound cool! Just be careful with your EQ and overall volume to avoid blowing a driver!

I would avoid the crate built GC brand acoustic gear, and I would avoid the orange cabs.

If your guitarists are actually quite loud you want at least 500w of head and a minimum of 4 x 10" speakers or a pair of 15"s.

Do you have a budget in mind?

I would suggest that on a pure db volume level that Acoustic and the 210 will probably not be much discernibly louder than your current combo. It will probably seem fine and quite loud right up to the point the first half-stack kicks in. Then your smile and your bass sound will probably disappear almost simultaneously.

With 300 watts be thinking 610, 810 or 412. 210 is not going anywhere what you are up against.

+1 it's not the wattage, it's the spkrs that make the volume. Forget about a 2x10- you need a big cab if you want to be loud. Think 6x10, 2x15, 4x12, etc.

Guess you need a cab that has a bump in the lowmids and a 2-3khz spike to cut through in your band.

Look for a tweeterless 212(and no Isobarik, a real 212), most of these have strong low-mids and a mid-spike.
