Yeah, but "for price". Many people talk about handmade and custom made axes in this forum and yamaha is no match for them, but i agree with you it offers very good tone for the price. I had yamaha trb6II myself and i really liked it...

Airsick Pilot, I think he just meant that the name "Yamaha" sounds crappy. Not the bass.

As for the TRB.. I'll pass. It's 1200€ If I remember correct. I like a wide neck and it does have a nice tone nevertheless but mm.. no. Its way too expensive here. maybe I'll buy one used for 600-700$ from america to here but not from Turkey, no... In fact I would rather buy a kawai alembic bass copy for 350-400 which I also will do one day.

So it seems like lakland 55-02 for now.

Oh sorry, I thought you were stereotyping Yamaha. I bumped into some guy a few days ago and he said something that really irritated me. He said "I've just got a new bass and I did alot of research and the only thing that I've learnt when looking for a new bass is to stay away from Yamahas..I think they should stick to building motorcycles"
I was infuriated I told him obviously he doesn't know much about basses. Turned out, he has just started playing. I forgave him.

Oh yeah one more thing, if you go to Lakland's website(www.lakland.com) there's a "Gallery" section. Very nice images of the Lakland basses, you might want to check that out.

Maybe there's enough of us out there that have played both, and consider the lackland a better bass. Don't get me wrong, I love the stingray, but the lakland has better spacing, and even a more aggressive sound. The first tme I picked up 55-02 my jaw just dropped.

Judging by the things that you're looking for(versatility, piano-like tone, etc), I'm not surprised nobody recommended the Stingrays.
