The upright players I enjoy listening to the most are Mark Dresser, Mike Formanek, & Mark Helias. With props to Barre Phillips, Edgar Meyer, Drew Gress, & Stanley Clarke. But the only upright player whose influence I can occasionally detect in my electric playing is Stanley.

Clarke mainly but I also like Gomez.. and as someone is gonna disagree with this, I think that Sting is pretty badass on the DB too =)

Can't forget about Reggie Workman (Wayne Shorter's JuJu and Adam's Apple, John Coltrane Quartet, Art Blakey's Free For All) One of the best supporting players out there and a great soloist when given the opportunity.

Bob Cranshaw is another semi-unsung hero. I just picked up a copy of Bobby Hutcherson's album Happenings yesterday... really excellent album. Not to mention his other stuff with Blue Note (Inner Urge, The Sidewinder)
