USB Mixer vs Audio Interface: pros and cons?

What surprised me is we aren't going USB 3.0 yet
Even 128 tracks at CD quality wouldn't come near to saturate the bandwidth of USB2.
USB3 isn't necessary in any way to record audio.
As a reminder, CD quality=1.41 kbits/s, USB2=480Mbit/s.
These are theorical rates but they show how much room you got.
The main issue with USB is processor load and USB3 doesn't fix it.

Good info.

I'm not sure where the bottleneck is... what I do know is that we are close but I'm prioritizing live mixing needs more than recording. For my live needs I'd need a 1620i at the least & thats mad expensive... plus I'd probably need a laptop upgrade too. I bought this bad boy for $280, pentium dual core

Right now I'm looking for an external interface that can do 8+ tracks through USB.
