Used Schecter stiletto studio 5 left handed, advice?

Hello everyone, I have been looking for this particular bass and found one used on kijiji for $500 ($940 new in Canada). I will be driving 4 hours to look at this bass if I decide to purchase, but the amount of scratches around the battery box kind of concerns me.

All in all, the rest of the bass looks pretty mint in pictures, so what could cause so many scratches in one area? Also what are some other things I should look for in just pictures. It would be a shame for me to drive 4 hours each way only to find suprises when I see the bass in person. Thank you in advance for the advice.

These are very good basses (I have an Elite 5).

Some of those battery covers fit kinda tight. And if the owner leaves the eq on then the battery dies fast. so they are constantly replacing batteries and prying the cover off. If you buy it, trim the cover minutely so it comes off easier, that'll eliminate the need for prying the cover out all the time.

FYI they go for $799 new here in Maryland.

Great bass, I have the 4. Definitely worth 500-600 Canadian used. Paid 450 for my 4 in London ON.
