Used Strings

Hello,

My name is elderdawg, I am a used string hoarder.

Help!

I have boxes of used strings. I get sloppy organizing them so don't know what sets fit long scale 4+0, long scale 2+2, or short scale. Is there a group therapy club for this on TB?

Perhaps it's time to throw them all out and when you save set of strings coming off of a bass, TAG THEM before you pass go and collect $200... or whatever they're charging for new strings these day.

I don't hoard, and for the most part I do label my strings when they come off so they can go on other basses for testing purposes. But there are times that I didn't and due to the confusion I followed my own advice and tossed the ones that I didn't know what they were.

Donate them. Diadarrio and String joy have things they do with them. I believe Diadarrio will even give you store credit towards new gear. String joy sends thiers to a women's charity for abused wonen and those gals make jewelry and such with them.
