Using concentric Volume pot with EMG pickups

Hello - I'm adding an EMG 40P5 to the single 40 DC in the bass currently. Right now, it has a single volume and tone, and I was planning on replacing the standard volume with a concentric volume as I don't want to drill another hole for a second volume pot.

What I don't know is how to wire the concentric pot, particularly because EMGs usually have the braided shield portion of the white wire soldered directly to the back casing of the volume pot. The ends of the white wires which have the exposed hot wire are not very long, and I'm not sure how to get BOTH braided sections soldered to the casing and still have the bare hot wire reach the appropriate lug.

Amd then I need to connect it all to the tone pot......

Join the two shields together and solder on a length of wire. Connect the other end to the pot's grounded pins and the rest as in the picture. Work quickly so as not to melt the insulation causing a short between the shield and center conductor.

This will result in the upper knob being the neck and the lower the bridge. Just swap the two hot leads if you prefer neck/lower bridge upper.

Electrically you would want it to look like this:
