USPS is not exactly inspiring confidence these days..

I subscribed to the British music magazine Mojo in late April.
Haven't received one print copy yet. Used to take 3 to 4 weeks.
Stuff I ordered through priority mail has been coming through quickly. i know a few postal workers. They are disgusted by the situation.

Yes, but often you get what you pay for....
I ordered a bass from Philadelphia 22 days ago and it’s still in transit. Actually after 19 days it popped up still in Philadelphia

Nothing is impossible to the person who has no involvement in the task other than to stand on the sidelines and proclaim: “Just do it!”
I personally think the delivery services as a whole have done some pretty outstanding work in the face of what’s gone down.
I won an eBay auction July 14 from NYC and received the package on the 4th of August. For several days the online tracking history said 'Missent' whatever that means. It then spent about a week in Carson, CA, a few miles away from me. Very erratic indeed.
As for shipping eBay, I have found that Fedex Ground is half the cost of USPS Parcel Select for whatever reason, and their deliveries have been VERY fast. I also just shipped one of my Gold Tone uke basses to Arizona via Fedex and it was delivered in two days. So for the time being I will use Fedex, but I am always keeping an eye on shipping rates, delivery times, etc. and use whichever is the best at that time.

I might be toeing the line here and I apologize in advance if it is too political, but I struggle to believe the issues the post office face aren’t by design: A Presidential candidate blasts mail-in ballots as corruptible during a global pandemic which requires minimal-contact in order to prevent spread. In addition, the two major political parties are suspected of voter suppression in several states across the U.S (Georgia for R’s was a big accusation, and the Senate primary in Kentucky for the D’s seemed fishy). Thus, allowing the PO to falter right before election lends credence to the idea of the mail-in as corrupt and unreliable.
I will say the USPS here has still been incredibly reliable, affordable, and appreciated. That’s all I got and I hope the new bass gets delivered soon!
One of my main gripes with USPS is with their customs offices. I bought a bass from a TBer in Canada, and the tracking never updated since it had arrived at the ISC. One day, it just got dropped off outside my door about 2 weeks later...no knock, no signature, nothing. Right now I have a package coming from Belarus that's been sitting at an ISC for almost a week now. I'm expecting the same issue.
In late June I ordered a face mask off Amazon. That didn't even show being shipped until a week later, then showed up in my mailbox 3 days after that - in a small, flat envelope via USPS. The shipper is what held things up.

USPS was operating well enough in March & April. Pandemic raging. Only one thing changed in May.
About 2 weeks ago I ordered a vinyl record from a guy in Quebec. He told me it might take a month to get here what with all the customs and so on. It got here in about 6 days. So there is no consistency in postal service; in my case both the Canadian and US postal services did just fine, in other cases not so much.
To add to that, he and his wife have have around $100 mil in assests of USPS competitors. Not like there is a slight conflict of interest, but.. ya know, just putting that out there.
