i'm in the same boat. its like custom, but "controlled custom". which is good for me, cos i like choices, but too many choices and my head wants to go BOOM!

right now, its not money thats holding me back. its what i want, ie body shape, pickups, etc.

a thunderbird body would be cool. i don't think he has done that yet.. hmmm..

Thanks, and big props to Nino! I give him the credit for the suggestion (and years of relentless nagging) to offer blocks and binding on 5-strings.

And mad props to Nino for making the blocks the correct size! That is, proportional to the wider five string neck. I don't care for five string necks that have blocks that were cut for four string necks.

I haven't received the "KayCee Vee" yet, but I plan to do a review (maybe soundclips, too) after it arrives. :hyper:

I know that Nino auditioned this Nordstrand P5 pickup on his "Geddy V" and seemed very pleased with it.

BTW, I'm GAS-ing big time! Those six photos of this bass are alternating as my computer desktop. :help:

Woo hoo, the bass arrived via FedEx yesterday, about four months and one week since the initial order.

FedEx must bounce these things around, because the stacked treble/bass control was loose and needed to be tightened. The wiring wasn't affected.

Okay, got that fixed..

First impressions.

Beautiful silver finish, stunning.

Nino did a great initial setup job. The only change I'll likely make is to lower the slots in the nut slightly. The way he has it set is perfectly acceptable, but I can get away with setting it lower since I have a fairly light touch.

The B string is unbelievable...the best low B I've ever experienced on a 34" scale bass, and equal to either of the Roscoe 35" scale basses that I owned.

The neck is fairly chunky, as is every bass that I've played that has a great B string. I don't intend to alter it.

For my standard fingerstyle tone, I dial the pan slightly to the rear pickup, slightly boost the lows and mids, and it's perfect. So far I've just left it there and enjoyed playing the bass. More later!
