Valenti Stealth Fretless Review!

I think on a fretted i'd need another type of neck p-up too keep the bridge p-up from getting out of control bright (which is why i'm going NP5 neck, FS bridge on my next one) but i think a pair of these might go in my slap project bass instead of the Sadowsky's i was gonna go with originally :ninja:

And as far as the fretless aspect goes, i went from playing a fretted 35" 6 string exclusively, to playing this unlined fretless 34" 5 string and i'm already starting to feel at home on this bad boy. ;)

I thought about the NP5 but thought for another 100 I would go with the versatility of the DC. I think poon's Valenti review pushed me in that direction.

I've spent some time with this bass and the strings have worn in...and i have my mini-rig up and running...I have to say that this bass sounds better and better everyday. I thought the tone was nuts to begin with, but with the blend slightly toward the bridge p'up and a little bass boost this puppy SINGS!!:eek: I usually HATE blending toward the bridge because of that nasal burpy sound that alot of basses get, but this one is just buttah no matter where i put it!

In Big single mode, the single coils do tend to make a lot of noise when recording off center...that's just about the ONLY qualm i have with the bass. Well...that and i still can't play in tune consistently:p

During the BBQ this weekend, i happened to be playing with my window open and my neighbor (ex guitar player) came over to make a comment about how "voice-like" the Valenti sounded. You know your bass sounds good when your neighbor comes over to compliment your tone!! (You also know you're playing WAAAY too loud :p )

If you're thinking about a Valenti....stop thinking and GET IT!:bassist:

I was thinking of Nino building almost the same all black bass but fretted, Sadowsky pre-amp w/VTC, Villex pickups in a Jazz/MM config, and to top it off, blue side position LED's.

Black DR's to match body/neck or blue to go with the LED's. Hmm...
