If the GP-5 seems a little too bare-bones, the GP-50 seems like a nice option for not too much more money.
MIDI connectors and built-in battery power. Hmmm.

I ordered mine yesterday from Amazon. Hoping it arrives before christmas. This will replace my GP-5, and possibly my Chocolate plus as well.

As far as sounds go its the same as the GP-5, according to the website.

I had a GP-100 that I used to records some stuff, that sounded pretty darn good. I have a MVave ANN Black Box that serves the same purpose as this, otherwise I would look into it. Having built-in battery is super cool thing to have

The FX/amp sims/snaptones etc are all listed in the manual for the GP-50. Obviously there is also the free NAM stuff online which isnt listed. I currently us the stock Ampeg NAM (Snaptone) with my GP-5.

FWIW, I have a few, and do not like to use, multi-FX, anyway.

No Trace Eliot There's a good one on tone3000, but it's head one, and I believe you can't run a 'SnapTone' and IR together. The Traynor full rig capture is good, though.

A friend pro bassist tried this product and told me he was quite satisfied with it, not all the effects are top, but the amp and cab simulator is perfect, he can upload his preferred stuff as this little thing uses NAM.

Mine is arriving tomorrow. After looking in the manual it seems I can stop using my Chocolate plus with this new version. I just need to turn two different effects on and off per preset.
Plenty of YT videos on the GP-5, which sounds exactly the same as the GP-50 if anyone is interested in how it sounds.
I agree that a lot of the effects are a bit 'meh'. They do the job for some, but Arte lacking in control compared to the likes of Helix etc. One really cool feature (5 and 50) is the ability to turn on and off up to 6 blocks at once. Handy to have a NR+Comp+EQ and Drive all kicking as one group.

I can't imagine anyone looking at units like this if they are anal about how close the sims are, its not that kind of unit, although I also think a lot of people kid themselves that more costly units are as close as they say. It does the job it's aimed at IMO. Gets you a flavour of the real thing most of the time, especially with the Snaptones.

Got mine yesterday. Very happy with it. coming from a GP-5 I get the same sounds, but the ability to adjust them on the device rather than trying to got hook up my phone. Can even change the Snaptones without the app, although that is needed to send them to the GP-50 in the first place.
Very handy having battery power, and the ability to turn it off without the battery draining and leave a cord plugged in. Wish more pedals did this.
