Value of Vintage SVT??

There is a recently retired bassist in my area looking to sell his old SVT rig. He has a 1977 SVT Head with a 1968 8x10 that has been re-coned. The rig sounds absolutely killer!!

I asked him how much he'd sell it for, and he really isn't sure what to value it at. I told him that I'd be happy to help find out what his rig might be worth, and then make him an offer. I'd like to keep it as honest as possible, as he's a great friend to the music community in my area.

I'm having a hard time finding a similar product that has sold, so that I can see what the sale price was. Does anyone know of a resource that I could access, or is there someone here on the forum who has experience on doing valuations of vintage gear?

The heads alone are selling on the 'bay for $1500+ plus shipping. Cabinets are going for around $500+. And that's without seeing it or knowing if it all works fine. Pictures would help.

About right, I'd say, except it couldn't be a 68 810 since they didn't come out till 69. Is it a flatback or a tiltback with the towel bar handle?

Excellent as long as it still has the original CTS speakers! They only handle about 250w, but they have THE sound. The only cab made since then with a sound that good is the Heritage 810e.
