Vancouver shop recommendations?

Certainly there is nothing much out of the ordinary here.
-The main L&M on Terminal Ave always has a few interesting basses.
-Tom Lee right downtown on Granville is less interesting and parking is a pain. Large acoustic guitar section if you care about that though.
-Rufus Guitar Shop sometimes has one or two interesting acoustic instruments (guitars, mandos etc). If you're in the UBC area maybe worth sticking you're head in the door. If not, probably not worth the effort. It's not a place that gets a dime of my business.

Um....wow, Vancouver kinda sucks for music stores. Both L&M and Tom Lee have satellite stores that range from completely uninteresting to dismal. There really aren't any cool little Subway Guitars type stores anymore. Used to be Not Just Another Music Shop but they closed a while back.
Unless you need strings you're probably better off going for a walk and grabbing sushi.

If you are into musicals there is "The Light in the Piazza" and "Next to Normal", always good jazz at the Cellar and O'Douls, Jon Kimura Parker plays Rachmaninoff with the VSO, etc.

One place that was pretty cool was Act One Music in Langley. Too bad they closed down as well... they had great stuff like Genz Benz I had never seen before locally.

Jeff are you still digging the Landing?

Oh yeah man it's the only bass I play now! I've sold everything but the Pre which I've had 30 years and that's in the storage container.

Act one was a cool shop. The fact Pete D. is now at the Langley L&M is a big reason it's so good.

I'm jealous. When it's nice, it's very nice. And I'm in Scotland now, where we had a nice day... as long as you wore three layers...
But my memory of my first long visit there is burnt in my heart. It rained non stop for the full month I was there. :-)
