'Variety Show'

So my band is playing at a talent show type of thing at my high school tomorrow. We're playing a couple original songs and we're "headlining" the show. Should go pretty well... we're pretty tight.

Along with my regular band, I'm also playing in a student/teacher combo band. My old english teacher is playing guitar and my spanish teacher is playing harmonica/vocals. We're doing a couple zeppelin covers and we should get the crowd pretty pumped. I'm excited!

yeah i just got home from it and let me say that it was amazing!!!

We tore it up and the crowd went wild over the bass solo. I spun my bass around my shoulder at one point and it would've been great, but it unplugged me from my amp and resulted in me becoming entangled in the cable. Oh well, the audience still loved it. There were some other good acts, as well as some terrible ones... but we definitely stole the show! :bassist:

Glad it went well. There is nothing like performing in front of a big enthusiatic crowd.

Since I'm old enough to be your English teacher - I want to know how the old guys did and how that set went over.

That set also went really well. We nailed the songs and everyone really loved it.

My spanish teacher is probably around 40 and the english teacher is about the same. Mr. Miller (english teacher) has a really nice gibson les paul that he bought in the 80's when he was in high school! :bassist:

Thanks for the info and I'm happy that your teachers represented my generation well.

I love the idea of a band with students and teachers rocking out together.

Whether or not they admit it or showed it, I guarantee that they were as stoked as you were.

I still have my '61 Les Paul Jr. that I bought in high school back in the 70's. It was a used guitar then; now it is a vintage guitar.

I only wish I had the forsight to have started playing bass in high school instead of waiting until I was 40+. I probably would have bought a used '62 or a new '75 Fender Jazz. :bawl:
