I did some GREAT work with one of my favorite bands this past weekend that I'm really excited to share when it is done. Like beyond stoked from what we've started.
Anyway, we were using Logic and achieved some cool results with the varispeed recording that you can so easily do with that software. I'm wondering if there is a similar work flow in Pro Tools that I'm missing out on. Specifically, the results that were coolest were: 1. A chance in timbre that I could easily do pitching up or down something with any number of software packages I have access too in my PT environment, but also 2. a change in grove playing drums to something a little slower or faster than the agreed on speed for the track. It sounds silly, and I don't know how much of this you guys have played with, but there was some serious cool black magic happening.
Elastic Audio in PT is cool... But Varispeed in Logic was SUCH a painless way to experiment. Click the little button on the transport window, record, un-click. I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas how to do the same thing in Pro Tools as easily/painlessly.
