Hey y'all. I've found my favorite string so far (Velvet Animas)...they're loud, present, complex, low tension, and can be dark or bright depending on what I want! It's too bad they're not being made anymore. Does anyone know of any viable alternatives? I'm particularly fond of how well they bow at the lowest possible dynamic...something I haven't found in any other string aside from real gut. TIA!

Double Bass Velvet Anima Alternatives

Genssler`s new Tempera strings. They remind me of Animas I used to play on for years and have all the qualities you mentioned. But these bow much better (they are aimed to be orchestral strings)! They still have lots of pizz sustain - maybe more than Animas. And the windings are smoother and don´t get sticky like the copper windings of Animas did on me.
