Double Bass Velvet garbo. D om G string

Hi!

I put on a Velvet Garbo G and D which I had on my bass earlier.

No problems last time around. Now there is what sounds like ”necknoise” when playing D on the G string pizzicato. Like a string rattle.

this is what ive tried:

- changed the string height

- checked the smoothness of the neck nu playing long glissandos on the G and D string. Seemed fine

- put a pice of folded paper in the saddle by the G string

none of the above worked.


Any tips?

I should add that this problem didnt happen with my Oliv G.

Is it possible a string winding has broken?

Yeah, it sure is.. Can you usually see this on the outside of the string when this happens?

Problem solved!

I installed the string more careful and now; no noise.

 

[DoubleMIDI]

You might have a small bump on the string (due to a manufacturing failure) and now it no longer faces the fingerboard.
