Verizon Cell Phone

Ok, unlike what seems like the rest of the posts, i'm going to suggest the other end of the spectrum. If you want one of the newer touch/blackberry/iphone/superphone things-ignore my post.

I'm on a Verizon Family plan through my Dad & Step Mom. There's 4 people on the family plan-Dad, Step-Mom, Sister, and I. I figured, they're paying for it-I'll be thankful that they're going to do this and not charge me anything...even when I went over my text limit by a lot.

We all got the same phone. I text the most out of all of us. I use it for texting, calls, and the contact list. I rarely use the camera, but it's been nice. Decent enough pictures. I do not use it for games, video, streaming content, or anything like that. I use it only for calling & texting. When i want to listen to music-I use my iPod, when I want to take better pictures-I use my camera. We wanted as basic as we could while having the few features that we all like.

So, we ended up getting the LG VX8350.

I've dropped it several times, the battery life is good enough for me-I think 2 days depending on where I'm at, I get pretty good reception most places I go, and I like it. I don't use songs for ringtones. It's set on either vibrate or the most annoying one I could find (a bunch of high pitched beeps).

Nice basic phone with enough features to satisfy me. Ok, if I could get one-I'd get an iPhone too. My girlfriend just got one and loves it. I like gadgets, but I'm not willing to pay the prices for them.

all the best.

I have the Storm.
So far everything is good! mine came with a 8 GB memory card, you can watch/save youtube vids, music, movies, pictures etc. There's tons of applications (like myspace, facebook, pandora radio etc). Instant emails and texts.... I love this thing!

Edit: You can also make phone calls! :D

I have that same phone right now. I works great, is small and pretty bullet proof, and the battery is decent. But the battery drains pretty quickly since it does not have the best signal out here, and I kinda want the qwerty keyboard. I use full sentences when texting (no txt spk), so the numbers and word are kinda getting to be a pain. But I like almost every thing else about it though.

I've got a Voyager which drains the battery down within a day. No music just call/ text. I dig the qwerty keyboard but not so much the touch screen. Hardly unlocks without using the side button.

Voyager is awesome just needs longer battery life IMO.

God Bless, Ray

Verizon is going to be introducing the "new" blackberry that "rivals" the iphone... Way better than the Storm... It takes the best and better than the Storm and the Curve, with new features...
I heard this from a Verizon rep.... It's coming out "soon"....

I'd wait.

I totally dig my LG VX9400. No, it isn't the latest and greatest phone, but mine has been awesome. I got it in May 2007, and I have had zero problems with it. When, or if, this one breaks, I will go looking for another one.

I totally recommend it. You can surf the web, watch TV, and listen to music on it. No full keyboard, but the predictive text feature is easy to get the hang of.

Odd. I might charge mine once/twice a week... I talk on it about an hour a day, and am texting quite a lot throughout the day.

We don't know when LTE will be completed... best we have is "2010", which could be december this year, orrrrrr december next year :p.
Also, the iPhone, IMO (!) isn't that great of a product. I like having a real keyboard myself. I'm sure I'd get used to the iPhones, but, I like my voyager better anyway.

I had thought I heard that Apple was going to put out an iPhone w/ a slide QWERTY keyboard, but, alas, none to be found...

That would be awesome and you know that they could pull it off but at the end of the day, it's always gonna be Steve Jobs call and beyond coming up with the company his decisions have been more than a little off. I'd definitely like a haptic feedback option as well.

Here's a suggestion: figure out what you want (read lots of reviews) and buy one on Ebay. No contract, no obligation, if you don't like it, re-sell. All this means is that you'll need to get a phone that has been out more than 90 days or so.

I do this for my daughters' phones. Works like a charm. Ebay is also the best place to buy accessories.
