Versatile OD/Distortion

Hey guys

I've been looking around the net and searching this forum, but I haven't really found anything that has answer my question directly.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what sort of a pedal would offer me that "treble dirty bite" that Chris Squire achieves, but also offers a very heavy distortion something like "time is running out" or "hysteria" by Muse?

I am in no way trying to copy the sound of these artists, but time and time again I've always felt that I should invest in a versatile OD/distortion pedal that can provide me with those types of tones for when I actually play a cover of the aforementioned bands and more importantly for my own personal use and tonal shaping.

I play a Fender Jazz.

Generally speaking, no pedal does both of those well. A really good OD is almost never a good heavy distortion, and vice versa. The few that do both "OK" are just "OK" and hard to recommend. Instead, just buy two pedals.

Best thing I can think of is a wounded paw battering ram. That or a distortion modeler.
