very loud hum

sometimes when i play a show, i get this really loud hum coming thrugh my cab. i've tried turning off all neon,going direct,and can't get rid of it. it seems to get louder when i step closer to lights.can anyone help me?

shield your bass

buy a bass with humbuckers

use high quality cable and keep them short as possible

stay away from lights!

It's just how it is with some instruments - single coils pickups are prone to it and you just cannot eliminate it no matter what - short of playing inside a faraday cage.
