VERY newbie question: Is this... slap?

I feel like Seinfeld theme is the rite of passage into the world of slap. Yea/Nay?

If you were just to ask me "No".....I loved that stuff (technique) since Sly and the Family Stone

Honestly, I can sound like that because I practiced a lot but I don't have the chops...I don't know what to do to improve my slappin'

i.e. the only real song I can slap is aeroplane from RHCP but I wouldn't come with if it wasn't done by Flea first.

Don't get it wrong, I'm a very talented player who can join a band live and do a great job without learning the songs (I had awesome teachers)

Thx, it doesn't help, like I said I can play and sound aeroplane like the album, it's more like a blocking thing between the impro parts and reproducing something

Sounds like a more aggressive finger-style bass, but not slap.

I've been playing for two weeks. I just wondered. That's all.



Sort of starts off softly there, and then moves onto some truly aggresive type stuff (for me). Especially at the end which (to me as a newbro) is insane.

Is this sampled, or is some awesome dude actually playing this?

Sounds like an altered sample of a real bass. Or a real bass track that's been thoroughly sliced and diced.

Whether it's a real bass or a synth bass... Learn to play it anyway! Copy good guitar lines, trumpet lines! Piano bits!

You can learn from any arrangement, regardless of whether it was played on the bass or not.

Just keep going.... It's a great instrument to play, and more versitile than a lot of people realize.

My playing was plateaued for decades, until I let go of just trying to "play the bass line" and started trying to just play. (Still helps to learn the bass line, but that's not the same as learning the song.)

It sounded like synth or keyboard bass until the break towards the end. That bit had a slap bass feel.

Always remember, the secret of good bass playing is to be inspired by others, but to play like you.

They are a program band who write great songs.
Very unlikely to be a slap line but you could play it as such.
Same as Dua Lipa 'don't start now'...
