VFE Alpha Dog vs. Fuzzrocious Rat Tail

I want a grindy distortion/fuzz to replace my ebs multidrive and boss sd-1. I've settled on a rat clone, but which one?

Fuzzrocious has a huge following here, I'm well aware of that, they're an awesome brand. But I'm really intrigued by the ridiculously versatility of the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and other VFE pedals. One thing that the Alpha Dog and the Rat Tail have in common is that they have clipping options.

The clipping switch on the Rat Tail is identical to the "hard" clipping switch on the Alpha Dog: silicon and led to emulate vintage and turbo rats, respectively. (they both also have diode lift on said switch, but I don't think that emulates anything)

On VFE's website, it's easy to tell what the clipping switches do because he tells it in extreme detail what the different clipping options do, and where they are in the circuit in the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] The Alpha Dog also has a soft clipping switch, with mosfet, germanium, and diode lift options. The Alpha Dog has a fat knob, which increases or decreases bass, while decreasing or increasing gain, respectively. There's also two trimpots inside, one to increase or decrease the symmetry of only the germanium mode, and the other to increase the led light's brightness. (not clipping, the actual led indicator light)

The Rat Tail has less clipping options, but it has the unique high and low clipping knobs, which sound quite useful. It also has a bit of a wait time, but I really like the idea of getting a beautiful piece of art on a pedal done by a 3 year old! (not sarcasm)

And that is my dilemma. I kind of want to support the VFE brand because they are extremely underrated here, and more people should try out their stuff. Peter's a nice guy, and he makes quite versatile stuff.

On a side note anyone looking for a good tubescreamer should check out the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] it'd work well with any bass with any amp.

I know, I saw that, I think I forgot to remove some words from my above post, I'm really brain-dead-tired right now.

And you're definitely a nice guy, I've seen you around talkbass a lot. You make pretty excellently cool pedals, IMO. I love the graphics, I always like pedals that have that extra effort of looks. If I had a lot of money I'd buy the grey stache, oh see demon, and dark driving, (along with 40 other pedals..) but sadly, I'm on foodstamps, and I don't have a lot of money.
