'VI' questions

I am very curious about the VI basses (6 strings an Octave bellow a guitar and EADGBE tuning).

The two I am aware of, not including the fender VI, are the Link Removed and the Eastwood Sidejack VI.

The existing Fenders are a out of my price range. I am not familiar with Eastwood guitars, are they quality? Is the Hellcat a better option? Are there any VI's I am not aware of? $1,000 or less is what I'm comfortable with but Id still be interested to hear about other options.

Thanks.
Sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors.

I played an Eastwood a couple months back. The quality was good. The string spacing is tight so finger playing was odd. Probably something you could get use to. If you're a guitar player it would probably be pretty easy to get use to. I remember the neck being comfortable. I didn't plug it in so I can't tell you how it sounds. But it looks very cool with the binding and the way the top i carved.
