Victor Wooten now using D'Addario Strings

D'Addario?? Really? I have to buy them for my 6er because they're the only thing stocked in town, am I the only one who finds they suck horribly and the A string pretty much always has that awful chorus-y effect, sometimes it gets other strings too, but always on the A for me.

As stated earlier though, it's not like this will change his tone even a fraction of a percent, nor will it change yours.

Victor himself had on his website said that he uses his Signature Strings from Fodera or D'addario Nickel strings. He said his nickel strings seemed to respond better to his touch and he uses 40-95 gauge strings.

Regardless, he's Victor Wooten and he can sound good on anything.

"Homo" is Greek for "the same", so a "gear homo" is someone that uses the same gear... as Victor Wooten. :p

yea, that's the ticket. :help:
kinda like a gear snob minus the pretentiousness.

as for that what they all say. Yea, it probably is. I aint hatin though. whatever adds to his pocketbook. keep the man paid so he can make more music that we all can aspire to play.

The chorus effect probably has something to do with your setup. If the pickups are too close to the strings, it can result in some odd string effects that could certainly be more noticeable with some strings.

If every set of their strings produced an awful chorus-y effect, they'd go out of business faster than you could say "Palmystery".

Strings are a personal opinion thing BUT I have to agree. The only rounds that I think are worse are Slinkies. And that's because they sound similar but die fast.

But like I said strings are a personal opinion and there are plenty of people that love them and sound great using them.

Yep, D'Addario's and EB's are the worst. In both cases, the only people that I know that use either are endorsers and people who are looking for cheap strings. In either case, you get what you pay for...

I love me some prosteels

I've always had good luck with D'Addarios lasting a good amount of time for me. I use the prosteels now and have had some good experiences with them. I'm sure there might be a "better" string out there for me but since I get my D'Addario sets for free right now, I'm not going to complain and won't really be searching either. And good for Vic on his new deal.
