Victor Wooten now using D'Addario Strings

While there may be a limited number of people use stuff simply because of artist endorsement, my experience managing a guitar store is that the endorsement encourages people to TRY something. D Addario does not sell a crap-load of strings because Wooten, Willis, Metheny, et. al. endorse them. They sell 'em because people like them.

From managing the store my experience is that D'Addario is the most consistent string company, and great service to both the retailer AND the end-user, and had a focus on waste reduction in the '70s.

I use only D'Addario on my guitars, both electric and acoustic for those reasons. I'be used other strings on basses (notably GHS, DR, TI, and Dunlop for extended periods, and again find myself coming back to D'Addario . But the point us I use them because I like them, not because anyone else does.

Another important consideration is, as Jimmy M has said, individual body chemistry strongly affects string choice.

Not to say Fodera doesn't make great strings, I've never tried them, but I've used D'Addario XLs for decades and IMHO they're great strings and very affordable. I can fully understand that D'Addario is in a much better position to supply Vic the quantity of string sets needed compared to Fodera, who make their strings in smaller batches, by hand, by a small group of people.

Kudos to Fodera for offering handmade strings, made with the highest quality they can offer, at a pretty decent price, -at BSO, -of course! I need to try a set someday.

And off topic, I'm really digging the T-I Superalloy's at this point on my main bass.

Most of my other basses sport XLs. -EB's on a couple, and Boomers on a couple.

I'm amazed at the D'Addario negativity.

They make a Great, Affordable, Long Lasting, Consistent string.

Yeah me too.. D'Addarios are not bad.. They were the first nickel strings I used.. I have been hearing a lot about the Chrome.... but I went with a set of TIs on my JV.. I wonder if Alexandra Daddario is related......

Or maybe he is tone deaf? And he can't hear the crappy sound of dAddario strings while you Guys can?

Tons of bass players here menaged to establish very good gigging busines, for many of them music is the main income.

They menage to live without alleged endorsments money, why you think that Vic Wooten can't?
