Video Review 1x12 cabs: Fender Rumble 112 vs. Aguilar SL 112

Thanks! The last real improvement I want to learn how to do, is record the riff uneffected and then loop it — so that there's no difference in my own playing. That'd control for me subconciously changing my technique based on my expectations.

I saw one Youtube reviewer who does that, but forget who.

All you need is a looper pedal

Two Rumble V3 112 cabs are what I use. Love them. I turn the horns off though.

They look awesome too !

Is that gigging volume, and how's it being recorded?

What sounds good at home can fail in a gig situation and vice versa. Fwiw, the SL112 is one of the least favorite cabs I owned. Light, but that's about the only positive. When you leaned into it I found that it kinda fell apart tonally. That said, I have a pretty specific sound(s) that I'm usually going for so YMMV.

Exactly the rig I'm setting up. They fit in any car, are easy to move around, have built in backup, and are easily replaceable. Finally, they have a good vintage look which fits my 50's rockabilly band a lot better than markbass.

Oh yes, the classic look is why I ordered them to start with. After I heard them I was well pleased.

What did you mean about built-in backup ?

Congrats on your new cabs! And a stack will sound very nice. Give you that warm full sound. Also thanks for the Aggie review and recording. I had considered Aggie the silver cloth cabs a while back, but it would seem they're good for a small number of people who enjoy that particular sound.

I owned a pair of boo-teek cabs last year that were fantastic, they were very flat. For some reason I couldn't get them to warm up to my GK MB500. I sold them and went through a couple other brands, a couple really big ones. Then I fell into a pair of Eden EX110's that I really love. They didn't break the bank but boy they warm up the sound just fine to my ears! And for a couple small cabs they sure crank! I guess my point is even the economy lines are really starting to offer a lot of performance nowadays.

Maybe one day down the road you could do a vid of you with your band and new double-stack? That would be nice to hear live! :D

Jeez not sure what you guys are hearing, but I like the Aguilar SO much better in that video. It's deeper and smoother and has a certain sweetness to it.

The Rumble seems very harsh and ganky in comparison, with no real deepness or crispness.

I can't imagine that Rumble at gig volume, nothing but harsh mids

Nice work on the vid, too! Need to do some more cabinet comparisons :)
