Embedded videos just look like stills. It’s been for a few days, didn’t even realize they were videos till now. It still works fine on my desktop Mac and iPhone but not on the iPad.

Ugh, yeah I didn't say what I did because I couldn't remember. I think I just went into the settings and looked at Safari, and for some setting I sez to myself I sez "I wonder what happens if I toggle that". I'll look at the iPad when I get home and hopefully it will come back to me.
Wait... I have a dim memory of a setting (under Safari I think) that lets you designate another app to handle security permissions or something. Somehow it had gotten set to the Firefox privacy browser (I think it's Firefox Focus). I turned that off, and then it seemed to work. So I guess it didn't think the way the videos were embedded. Hmm, I wonder if that points to a possible security risk for users...?
