Vintage Electro Voice TL806Q ?

Tried to do some research on this cabinet I just acquired. It weighs every bit of 140 pounds as the input panel suggest. Is this a home made cabinet? Reading about this all I see is prints to make home made cabinets? Was this ev's attempt at a Heath kit type marketing? I plan on seeing what speakers are in it later today and post pics of the entire cabinet. The cabinet is very well made. I picked it up in a lot purchase. A bunch of crown stuff, crown crossover, crown straight line pre amp. Crown 150A, Crown 150A series ii, Crown 300a Series ii. I missed out on a VOX piggy back, and a vox combo. This guy had no idea what he was selling. Anyways, I will put more pics out after I get into this thing. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the scant evidence, it COULD be an EV product, and probably is. They've made scads of speaker cabs, including multiple iterations or variations of the TL606. The plans they made available--the ones you see online--were done to promote driver sales to the DIY market. Not an uncommon concept during the hi-fi era. But further pics are necessary to say anything for sure.
 
I believe there were some made by EV for the installation market as well as the (unsuccessful for them) cinema market.
 
@agedhorse -- Hey Andy -- I'm sure you dig the non-standard use of 15-amp Twistlocks for the connectors. Thank heaven for the advent of NL4's!
That was back in the non-NEMA days. I remember some cabinets that used NEMA L14-20 & 30 connectors for biamped inputs (Flag Systems was one I recall), the challenge with this is the L-14-20 & 30 is often seen in conjunction with stage power.

I worked with a lot of the Flag Systems boxes back in the day! Some sounded great, others not so much. But they were built to last man. I remember the L14-20 & 30's very well, we always seemed to have the exact amount of cables we needed, but never more than we needed.
 
Hey , Alright some people from my days. Who remembers having to tap into the house power box to get 220.

I did that every show for decades. Early on it was sometimes sketchy but starting ~30 years ago roadshow disconnects became the norm. At my house gig we had 120/208V, 3 phase, 400 amp 100A, 100A, 50A and 30 amp available for whatever the show needs were. The 100A, 50A, 30A disconnects were isolated from the 400A lighting feeder for audio (FOH, monitors and recording truck if used)

Stupid heavy boxes. The idea was that your stage power cables and speaker cables could be the same inventory. There were quite a few of those boxes around Sacramento and I knew everbody who originally owned them, but their time passed 20 years ago.
 
It looks right to me to be an EV product...appropriately industrial. Once I saw the pics, it came back to me that the 'Q' suffix is for 'Quad'--four drivers. The plans for this box are also available online somewhere, along with a 415 version, I think. Given that, it's possible that this is a shop-made box following the published EV plans, but it seems just as likely to me that it's a genuine EV box; a lot of EV gear destined for installation had this same sort of industrial, shop-made look to it.

Back in the day some audio companies ran boxes like this for low mids in 3- or 4-way PA cabs. I played through a rig in the early 90s at a festival out in Norther CA that used TL606Q for low mids, TL806Qs for subs, JBL 2350 mid horns and JBL 2405 super tweeters. The rig sounded pretty decent out front, but I have never heard more bass drum coming off the back of a PA. Pretty sure it was already considered a retro rig in the early 90s. The sound company was just getting started and had bought the gear cheap.

I think you got your model numbers swapped for LFs and LMFs, but yeah, that would have been pretty retro in the 90's. By that time, a lot of PA companies had repackaged what was pretty much those exact same components into 'all-in-one' systems, usually in trapezoid cabs. They were more convenient to "array", but had a lot less phase coherence than systems like the one you described. I went down that path with my own system designs, in part because that's what clients expected, but in many situations the old-style piles of discreet components would have worked better.
