Vintage Maxon bass pickup search..

Anybody out there have one of these..I've been searching to no avail
there are many online if you do a search but it seems they have all been sold..I found this bass at the dump in its original case.. it was a rusty mess with only the neck pickup working..I fully restored it and its a great player the neck pickup is great..I guess I could get the bridge pickup repaired but thought I'd give a shout out here..they usually read 8.4K..thanks brothers...

Are you positive the pickup is dead ? It could be the pot. But I would have that pickup repaired , rewound whatever it needs. I’m

I replaced the old harness with new CTS pots, orange drop cap and switchcraft jack..I know I could get it repaired but thought I give a shout out here..

If you’re looking for another original Maxon pickup, you’re best bet is to keep an eye on eBay, Reverb, or better yet, the Talk Bass classifieds.

But if you’re simply looking to replace the original with a similar pickup that looks close to the original, sounds okay, and fits, then simply do an Amazon search for “mini 4 string bass pickups”. You can get a pair for cheap that way.

Yes the one that works reads close to 9K and sounds great the other is dead...

I know this is a restoration project but UNTIL the exact PU shows up why not find something that will fit? It’s a reversible thing to do.

I replaced a similar era pickup in an EB-3 clone I have with a P-90 and it sounds much, much better.

(I’d rather use a good guitar pickup than a cheap-azz bass PU. No pole piece OCD here). YMMV

I have the exact same bass with the exact opposite problem! My neck pickup doesn't work but the bridge does. Can you tell me the ohms reading on your neck pickup?
