It is actually connected to a push/pull volume pot to do a coil split. How to they terminate in the control cavity? With 4 pairs of wires it seems they are either 4 coil pickups or active, and that one pair of wires for each coil goes to a battery.

You are right series/parallel not coil split.A coil split? splitting a pickup like that would kill two strings. Its probably some kind of series/parallel switch. That is a rather odd pickup, how does it sound?
Not sure I can't find out much about them.those are weird. maybe each pickup is a stacked humbucker?

They sound good, not as hot and gritty as the DiMarzio's in my other P bass. More of a warm, dare I say, vintage tone. You are right series/parallel not coil split.
Wow! Thank you very much for that info. I'm surprised at how little information there is on these. Those are the same pickups that Roger Waters has had in his black p bass hybrid since '79. Tom Anderson told me that that they are alnico 5, 42 guage formvar, 12,000 turns at 100 layers per turn. He gave me the formula when I called him to see if he would make me some, or if he knew where I could get some. They are very rare. Schecter custom shop has just released a ceramic direct couple version. I suspect the new version is not really the same beast as the vintage TA schecter ones.
You are quite welcome, sir! People are always mentioning Roger Waters bass tone live, and the very pickups you have are a piece of the puzzle for sure. He doesn't actually have Duncan quarterpounds in his old bass, but that's what Fender chose to use in the sig. model. They just had to have a pickup with 1/4 inch polepieces that was hot! The Rio Grande Muy Grande p bass pickup is very like the Schecter in terms of tone (both sound fantastic and cut like nobody's business IMHO).Wow! Thank you very much for that info. I sent it to you in a PM. If you need anything else let me know.Hi imdkoz,
Is there any chance you would have a photo of the wire connections at the coil switch on the pot? I'm trying to help someone reassemble an old bass with these pickups and we are stumped at how they were wired to the switch. Many thanks in advance.
I am a tech at a shop in Houston, and we have a bass with these same Schecter pickups in it - do you have any idea of what wires are what from each pickup? The push-pull pot is missing, and we are trying to figure out which wires are which to install a new one.I sent it to you in a PM. If you need anything else let me know.![]()
Let me see what I can find. I think another person had that question earlier in the thread.I am a tech at a shop in Houston, and we have a bass with these same Schecter pickups in it - do you have any idea of what wires are what from each pickup? Thanks for any help you can provide!
