vinyl record pickguard.

I'm guessing it'd be something as simple as sending you an intact disc and, if it's a non-standard pickguard (e.g.: a Fender Blacktop Jazz), the original guard as well?

35 years dam, it came from my fathers record collection from back in the day. was in my opinion his coolest record.

cool, could always just measage me on here and we cud figure something out, im going to the record store in the morning to check out the dollarbin, might try the sanding.

What someone does with their own property is their business.
But I must say that despite the artistic aspects, I shudder to think of the possibility of valuable/collectable albums that could be lost.
Just because something is old does not mean that it should be destroyed.

what is with all you guys getting your panties all up in a bunch over a useless vinyl. OLD USELESS VINYLS!!!!
Clearly you dont collect vinyls anymore because you would know that there is millions of copys of non-valuable/ non-collectable vinyls out there. ones that are scratched beyond repair, ones that never should have been made in the first place.

I have taken 100's of vinyls to the dump because they were USELESS. scratched beyond repair/ bent, water damaged, people keep there old vinyls in the garage you would do that to sopmething you really care about.

Cant believe i even have to tell you older guys about vinyls getting destroyed or damaged. im sure if you grew up with vinyls you know all about scratchs and how you have to take care of them or they will GET DESTROYED.
I took something that was grabage that wouldnt be used, and i turned it into something that lots of people want and will use... how is that bad?

I began my comment by saying that I believe that what one does with their own property is their business.

You are not the first person to make a pickguard out of an old album and I agree that doing so can be unusual, cool looking and artistic. I was simply expressing that despite being old, obsolete media there is some of it that is quite valuable and some degree of caution might be wise.

Others will read this thread and be inspired to do this and that's cool. It would just be a shame to raid dad's old album collection and turn a cool looking album into a pickguard only to find out that it could have been sold on the collector's market for enough money to buy a whole new bass.

Look before you leap, that's all I was saying.

Thats true. back on topic i picked up some dollar bin albums today got one in the workings now am just about to try the sanding method that one person mentioned, lol i started to think why i didnt just make one out of like mahogany any one got any ideas that would be cool to work with. ill post pictures in the original thread when im finished to keep everyone updated.

found "Pope John Paul II sings" is it a sin to cut that up? im def going to give it a play.

Why stop at the pickguard? You could do a mosiac for a whole top of classics. and then feature unusual ones for the pg's and accents.

I've been through the vinyl section of the local Salvation Army pretty often. Have yet to find that Holy Grail in there.
