I wouldn’t expect hitting a cymbal with the headstock would cause damage to the cymbal,

but I’m thinking it could take a chunk of wood out of the headstock or neck if hit the wrong way.

Funny… all I do is try to avoid hitting my headstock (let alone my head) on anything. :)

Sure it would. Drummers routinely crack their cymbals using only their drumsticks. Nailing it with your headstock and tuning keys would increase the chance of damage.
