Volcano Pic

Hey Thor, I first saw that photo on another web site and thought of you when I saw the photographer's name.

I'm supposed to travel to London a month from now, and I'm hoping for either an change in the eruption and/or ash cloud flow, or for the Pan Am Clipper flying boat service to resume. ;)

Meh....

:D

Ahahaha, awesome. volcano and dante's peak are among my favorite bad movies.

on a more on topical note: my dad was over in germany went Kaput blew it's top. since they didn't know how long the planes would be grounded for he decided to head to england (where our family is). it took 6 seperate trains, 2 buses, a ferry and a car ride to get from frankfurt to the UK. he told me that when they (he was travelling with a coworker) got to calais the streets were literally littered with hire cars that people had just abandoned on the side of the road. the local hire car agencies were charging upwards of $2000 just to take a car across the channel. luckily for him my cousin drove from reading and took a ferry across and picked him up.

Heh :)

This eruption isn't large at all, just wait for the Katla volcano to erupt, THEN we'll be talking some big stuff!

Throughout history, whenever the Eyjafjallajökull volcano has erupted, the Katla volcano has followed 1-2 years after.

Katla is a much bigger volcano and it will probably be 5-10 times more powerful then the current eruption.

Also, Katla is overdue.....it last erupted in 1918 and should have erupted again decades ago....

Fun times ahead!

Indeed. Unless something new is learned about ash and airplanes now, many airlines will definately be on the verge of going belly up when Katla decides to go.

Anyhow, here is another cool shot

Edit. And another from the same source with some stupid line written on it spoiling a brilliant picture.

What an amazing amount of damage...sometimes it seems like the earth is splitting in half. :(
