I have a Lakland 55 01. The volume knob is loose. Also, the volume adjustment is not smooth. From 1 to 8, there is very little change, but then the volume kicks in around 9.
Has anyone experienced these problems? Is there a fix?
This would be because the pot is a logarithmic pot. Volume controls have to cater to the human ear, which isn't linear. Logarithmic pots increase their resistance on a curve. At the halfway point volume will still be moderate, but it will increase sharply as you keep turning up the volume. This corresponds to how the human ear hears.
