Hey, I really want to get a Vox Hawk IV bass but i have no idea where to get them or how much they regularly go for.

Do you guys know anywhere online (except ebay) that i could just purchase something like this? I'm thinking something like a musiciansfriend.com for vintage gear.

Also does anyone have any experience playing old vox basses or know the value of them?

I've owned 2 old Vox basses but sold them when I discovered Phantom, here's one of mine:

Can't help you with that specific Vox bass, though looking at a picture of it reminds me a bit of some of the Italia guitars and basses. Invalid Link Removed

I'm partial to the Mondial myself. There's also a company called Phantom Guitarworks (http://www.phantomguitars.com)which is making officially licensed Vox Teardrop and Phantom reissues, though I haven't heard of any plans for a Hawk reissue. Wish I could help more, but maybe one of those will be of interest.

Ha, beat me to it by a couple mins... no, the Hawk IV is different than the Mark IV i'm pretty sure. Isn't the Mark IV just the phantom body shape? This is the Hawk IV:

EDIT: my bad, the Mark IV is the teardrop shape, while the Phantom is the weird geometric shaped one that Ian Curtis used to play on occasion.

Ya i saw the leadsinger of Coldplay play a Phantom, but i'm looking for vintage Vox Hawk IV (not Mark IV). Its wierd because i've seen vintage vox basses sell for like $200 - $1500 dollars. I dont think they were that good back in the 60's, they were probably like student guitars or something.

Sold mine back in 1980, along with my 77 american precision fretless. But i bought it in a pawn shop in 1975 for $25. Loved them both but marriage sidetracked me for a few years. If anyone sees this and has one, my initials are scratched into the back battery cover under the protective pad. My initials are LDG. I would like to get it back.
