I just got a VOX cougar bass and I was wondering if anyone on here would know how to figure out the year it was made from the serial number????

Ripper, Vox instruments are notorious for serial#'s not following any rhyme or reason. You can try Vox Showroom:

Someone there, using an old Vox catalog, voodoo, and chanting ancient incantations was once able to date my Sidewinder to 1969. Good luck with the Couger, they are sweet basses. Unbelievable thin neck, huh?

yea, it's allot of fun, that neck is crazy thin and fast, just got it and have not plugged it up yet. Hopefully the pickups are in good working order, might have to replace with some Ric pups, any suggestions? thanks!
Try the original pups first, they actually sound downright evil in regards to low end. If the original pups are beat, you'll have trouble finding replacements that'll drop right in but hofner, or rick types might work.
When I got my Delta IV, it had Rick guitar pups in it. Never got to hear the original on board effects.
I too have a Vox Couger. It was made in Italy and seems to be all orgianl except someone defretted the poor thing. I'll post pics tomorrow.
