I was keeping an eye out for Brainworx sale. Then I read it's only for united audio HDW or Apollo

The UAD branded one only works with UA hardware, but the Brainworx branded one works with any hardware software. Download a demo and try it out. Then wait for it to go on sale.

I just downloaded the Ampeg SVTVR trial.
Q: That Power Soak knob... what effect would that equate to using ?
Could I get that same "feeling" by using the IR loader and some cab/mic files.

The SVTVR Classic sounds pretty good ! Just like my 12 step procedure lol
sounds pretty much the same, lots less clicking to get it there, I'll give you that.
I guess you would still have to compress and shape the transients to Hook in with the the Drums. Tailor the echo/verb to the timing of the song ect.

I thought I was Missing a lot by not having the New Fangled Stuff, maybe not. It's quite possible they made "records" with these Old Plugins and now there Free

Wow, IK SVX 2 looks quite interesting… 67 Canadian buck with the rebate! It looks there are 3 amps: SVT VR, B15 N and V4B. Tempting… even with my real V4 for something like adding cabs to my Warm Audio DI signal. Even considering a Torpedo Captor 8 ohms for complete silent recording or practice…

If you're sticking with free plug-ins, try any many as you can find and see what makes a pleasing sound to your ears. You can always add more gain/saturation, EQ, and compression.

I use Reaper and check plugins4free.com regularly, and have gotten good results from this Bass Preamp, PLUGINS4FREE

I had the Ronald Passion tube bass preamp. It would crash when I enabled the Cab button in my old Nuendo 2
I haven't tried it in Reaper. I'll give it a go again.
The Dragon sounds great ! I've used it before. Great LIVE sound !!! I always had trouble sitting it in the mix... now with the Cab and Mic sim I should try it again.

As new plugins pop up I try them out, then forget about the older (still great sounding) plugs. 154 plugins mostly Bass related gathered over the years.
Some work well others glitchy Like the (for me) Analog Obsession' RARE one of the best sounding plugs, and at times it goes wonky. Ex. after a render of a song, a spectra gram reveals 20khz PEGGED
Still worth it as it's free and works 89% of the time.

Some of those Tokyo Dawn Plugs are nice too.

Seems like every week better and better (subjective) stuff is being released.

I'm waiting for the day i can run uad plug-ins. one of these days. if I had something to run the uad plug-ins I would. im looking at getting an Apollo twin mkii one of these days.

I can attest that this worked for me.

Fair warning, many of the IK products that qualify for the promotion (samples, loops, and synths) include a 180 day expiration with an option to purchase additional access at a discounted rate. I didnt see anything on their site about expirations until after downloading the paid product. IK could have been much more forthcoming with the fine print.

I just tried out all of them and purchased the V4 for $19, might buy the B15N too.
I still prefer a “console” or channel-strip sound for my bass recordings but having a second bass track with the B15 all furry but barely audible adds a little texture to the mix.
