VT bASS @ 12v ????

Yeah - I know.
Plenty of pedals have a stated power supply of 9v, but can quite happily take more voltage to increase usable headroom.
My Supercollider and B:ASSMASTER are rated at 9v, but can take 12v, and to my ears, sounds much better at 12v.

Some MI Audio effects can go as high as 24 volts!!!!

That's why I ask. ;)

12 volts would be the maximum power than can be used with our VT Bass pedal.The pedal is internally regulated so you will not achieve any sonic benefits by running it at a higher voltage.

Keep in mind that not all power supplies put out "exactly" the power that they specify. You might wish to check what the actual DC power output is to be on the safe side.

I wonder if there are benefits to running at 12v rather than 9v now. Hmmmm... going to have to order one and try ;)
 
I received an email from tech21;

Thanks for your inquiry. When using a 12V power supply, at best, the pedals voltage regulation will knock it down to 9V anyway, offering no additional headroom. And at worst, it will be too much juice for the voltage protection resistor (designed to act like a fuse so you don't burn up the rest of the circuitry), and it will blow (forcing you to replace it).

It would really be best to use a 9VDC analog power supply (like the old BOSS wall-wart).

Don't Do It, trust me, i have ran it before at higher voltages, and it just fried mine over time. just run it at the recommended 9v adapter, even if it is a little inconvenient, it will save you in the long run.

So maybe you can fix yours, just by finding this "voltage protection resistor" ?
