VT Bass DI and Electro Harmonix Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi?

Hi, a beginner in pedals here. There is a lot I don't understand on the technical side of things... I'm looking into buying some pedals. I'm set on buying the VT Bass DI. I'm also looking for a fuzz pedal and I really like the sound of muff. Looking through other threads here and elsewhere, it seems to me the best option would be the deluxe bass big muff...
My question would be - would both of these be an overkill? And also, is there maybe a better pairing in the same price range and accessibility?

I've run the nano Russian muff reissue into the VT and it sounds great. They do different things - the VT sounds like a classic pushed tube amp, while the muff has a nastier, grungier tone. Get them both and use them for different tones on different songs.
