VT VS BDDI

if i were to buy one rite now offline without playing it at all which one would u recommend?

If you were buying it offline, why not try them out? Both are good, but it just depends on what your needs are and what you like.

Buy both online and send back the one you don't want.

I prefer the BDDI, but I suspect a lot has to do with the rig you play through, and of course, a good dose of personal preference. The VT had a sort of harsh sound to my ear. I don't know how to explain it, but the BDDI has a nice, smooth, syrupy tone that I prefer.

i like the vt better because it cops the ampeg tones i like. woody's right that the vt can be kind of harsh, but its controls are easily dialed back and it doesn't have to sound harsh. it's not sub for a real svt, but but i'd be lying if i said i never subbed it for an svt

btw, i hear that the vt is getting a makeover, though i don't know what all that means.

thanks for the info jimmy. i wonder if there going to add mid control to the pedal if they give it a makeover. the tech 21 vt 300 bass head is also a possibility because im thinking about getting a different head

I've always used the BDDI and have always gotten compliments on my tone. Lord knows it's not my playing. If you're not to crazy with the settings the FOH is happy because they have a great signal. You can get a good tubey type of sound and use your amp for additional EQ. However I'm looking into the VT deluxe for the future. Tech 21 makes great stuff.

The new VT adds a speaker sim defeat switch (according to the picture on their website)... My guess is it'd be in the same price range as the original.

I have not used the BDDI...I did however have a PDDI (Paradriver DI) and liked it very much...but have since sold it and switched to a VT Deluxe (programmable) and couldn't be happier. 6 different settings (All of which make me smile) at the touch of a switch!!!

I have been using /am using both.

A short resumé:
I played the BDDI for years And I really liked the sound. When the VT came out, I tried it immediatly and was disappointed and sold it.
Shortly thereafter I got another one and since then I greatly prefer it over the BDDI.
Why?
In my opinion, it can sound more focused and tight without losing the amp/tube sim.
The BDDI sounds more boomy or blurred.
