VTBass vs Aguilar Tone Hammer

Who likes which one more and why? I'm not looking to use one as a preamp, I just want more options, including the option for an overdriven sound.
In case it matters, I use an Eden WT405, and no other pedals. And I'm in the middle of deciding if/when I like my new Cirrus more than my Fender J.

I haven't tried either just yet but from what I read they do different jobs the aggie is basically the controls off of anactive bass with an extra gain foot switch (AGS)
The VT seems to be more of a grit/OD/dist pedal.

I have a tone hammer on the way so I'll let you know what I think of it

It can be, but it also does clean Ampeg tones as well. I love the VT, but a prerequisite to liking the VT is liking Ampeg tones. It does them about dead-on and it doesn't do anything else. I don't think either one does the job of the other, really.

The Tone Hammer also has a DI while the VT does not.

I think the point of the VT is to color your tone to make it sound like an Ampeg. So yeah, I think it would color the sound pretty well.

I'll second the question about the tone hammer and overdrive... I know it's got the AGS switch, but is that just a clean boost or can it get dirty too?

The AGS is specifically a dirt channel, it is not at all a clean boost.

That AGS switch gives you the dirt, you can set up like a tubey amp/preamp, but with less coloration than SansAmp.
No cab simulation...
Both has different taste.
